What The Heck Are We Getting Ourselves Into?
Not going to lie this week has been a whirlwind of emotions for us both. We have had many thoughts run through our heads this first week of being open. One of them being, what the heck are we doing? We definitely started this business of an online boutique knowing it wasn’t going to be easy. We literally are starting from the ground up. Neither of us have thousands of followers on social media. We also are not natural models or even look like we have it all together on a daily basis. Most of the time we are makeup free and you will find us in jeans and a hoodie, or my personal favorite leggings and a t-shirt. We don’t have a thigh gap or a six pack, and things are a little more padded in areas than we would like them to be. But on top of all that we really are just a couple of farm girls who love spending time with our family and being outdoors.
Me being an introvert (Aspyn) this cannot be truer, I barely post on social media and only go to big social gatherings when I have to. Don’t get me wrong I love people but nothing makes me more happier than my closest family and friends and being at my favorite place, my house! But there has always been a part of me that has wanted to break out of my comfort zone and do something bigger. That’s why when Allie called me one morning and said she wanted to start a western boutique I said “let’s do it!”. We both have always wanted to start a business together and why not start it in something we both are passionate about which is agriculture and western clothing. Allie has always been really good at picking out clothing and putting pieces together. That’s why when I come back home, I always shop in her closet for what I like to call “weekend outfits”. It’s a pretty nice arrangement, I shop in her closet and pick out outfits to wear on the weekend and return them with no cost to me! It’s a pretty sweet gig! Even though I’m not sure she likes it.
Agriculture also means a lot to both of us. Growing up, our parents made sure we were taught hard work and how to take care of our animals and ranch. We grew up feeding and working cattle, as well as being in our local 4-H and showing livestock. Some of the best days spent were days with our dad, learning about ranching and riding around the farm helping him with whatever the day brought. I’m not going to lie these also would turn into the most trying days, everyone knows how dads on the farm can be.....
So to answer my question of what the heck are we getting ourselves into? This is it, we are fulfilling our dreams, living our best life, while doing the things we are passionate about. We are going to mess up, things are not going to work out how we may have hoped. We are going to have to dig deep and work for what we want because unfortunately nothing good comes easy. Like our parents have always told us, what do we have to lose? If we are afraid of failing, we are never going to try, and if we never try we are never going to succeed. Maybe you are like us and your dream is to start your own business. Or maybe your dream is to start writing a blog, be a mom, run a 5K or marathon. Whatever your passions and dreams are don’t be afraid to go after them because of being afraid of failing. Because if you never try, you run the risk of never succeeding and you may always wonder what might have been if you just would have went for it!
